• Water Damage

  • The only thing that's more jarring than dropping your iPhone and cracking the screen is dropping your phone into the kitchen sink...or the bathtub...or the toilet. In the warmer months, we also see a lot of phones that have been dropped into swimming pools or that get drenched in the rain.

What we do in our water damage repair process:

    • Disassemble the phone completely
    • Blow out all signs of moisture
    • Scrub the motherboard to remove all visible signs of corrosion
    • Give the motherboard an alcohol bath in an ultrasonic cleaner to remove any hidden corrosion

The last step is to reassemble the phone, and see if it will come back to life. It typically takes 60-90 minutes to do this. I won't lie to you and tell you that every situation is a success story. As a matter of fact, the success rate hovers around 50%. Any repair shop that tells you that they can definitely get your phone to work again is being less than honest. It's also quite possible that you will need to replace the screen or the battery, as they often get damaged when exposed to moisture.

The sooner that you get this done after an exposure to liquids, the better. Contact us for an appointment, or just bring it in and drop it off.
